From 1972 to 1980 she was research assistant at the Institute for Social Psychology at Cologne University. In 1975 she obtained her Ph.D. with a thesis in the field of social gerontology. Since 1980 she dedicates her time to writing novels and non-fiction books.

And Sylvie, the third sister, a free spirit, always carefree and independent-minded, has trouble accepting her "age" and seeks distraction in her relationship with a much younger, penniless artist. Despite their individual differences the three sisters were always close, ever since the days of their youth when in 1968 they turned their parent's house into a student community for one summer.
